Description

This lovely antique pestle and mortar looks to date from the early nineteenth century, although it may be earlier. The bowl is very heavy and we believe it to be made from bronze. The pestle is also heavy, but has a lighter-coloured finish and this may be brass. The pieces are of a similar age, but we cannot be sure that they have always been together (although they came to us together). There are no maker’s marks.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some surface knocking and wear as might be expected
