Description

Artist - Edward John Gregory (1850-1909), a British painter in oil and watercolour. He was elected as a Royal Academian in 1898 and became President of te Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in the same year.

Details - No visible signature or title. There is a label on the back of the frame for Sanders of Oxford with all the relevant details on. The label also states the original provenance of the picture 'Ex coll Martin Hardie who inscribed on reverse "From the Gregory Sale Christie's 1910 given to me by Mr Harold Hartley Aug 1910". The picture was purchased in Sanders' 4th exhibition in 1971 for £10. We have the original catalogue and can supply photocopies of the relevant pages on request. The picture is mounted and framed in a more modern fame.

The frame and mount are in good clean condition. The mount has a couple of very small marks. The frame has some scuffing, wear and has some small chips.
