Antique Metal Stamp Trust & Loan Co. Upper Canada

Photos

Description

This antique metal stamp is of a commercial grade and size and appears to have come off a press of some type. We would estimate it to date from the second half of the nineteenth century. It is made from steel. Around the edge of the stamp reads 'Trust & Loan Company of Upper Canada', and in the centre reads 'Incorporated Provincial Art and By Royal Charter 1844'. The stamp has been scored through with a cross, presumably to deface it when it was decomissioned. The stamp is containted within what we believe to be its nice original laburnum wood case with a screw top. The case has a felt lining.

Condition Overall in good condition for its age. The stamp has some surface corrosion and rusting and some wear as might be expected. As is mentioned above it has been scored through with a cross. The case has some slight denting and surface scratching and is a little faded.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Stamp - 5cm high, 4cm diameter of base.
