Description

This sweet small bisque-head doll dates from c.1920. He has '5/0 Germany' moulded into the back of his head. We are unsure of the maker, but he is similar in style to the Armande Marseille Ellar dolls. He has a bisque head with fixed glass eyes and painted facial features, and a jointed composition body. He is wearing what we believe to be his original outfit, comprising decorative tunic, pants and hat.

Condition: Overall in very good condition with some wear consistent with age. He has a few small scuffs and marks to his head. He possibly has some slight chipping to one side of his neck socket, although this may have been done at the time of manufacture. His composition body has some manfacturing flaws as might be expected. It has some slight cracking in places and has some signs of old and repair and re-touching around the neck. His clothing has some age-related wear and discolouration. His elastic waistband is stretched and has had a cord threaded through at some point to help hold them closed. He has been restrung at some point.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
22cm high.
