Description

This unusual oil lamp dates from the late nineteenth century. It has a black pottery base with a spelter figure of a labourer leaning against the column. It has an opaque glass reservoir with painted decoration and a brass twin burner. The mechanism and reservoir would benefit from some attention. The oil lamp retains a glass chimney and an acid etched rounded glass shade which is later in date. It is a decorative piece.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece would benefit from a careful clean and some attention. We have not been able to unscrew the burner from the reservoir, but did not want to force it. The reservoir is dirty and possibly stained. The burner has some misshapping and surfacce corrosion. The whole oil lamp is grubby. There are some manufacturing flaws to the glass and some surface scratching in places. The shade has some nibbling around the edges.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 61cm high (including chimney), 16cm diameter of base.
