Description

Almost certainly a British Soldier's "bring back" this is totally original to the period. ZULU war axe traditionally referred to as a "selepe" carried in the left hand behind the cowhide shield, the short stabbing iklwa spear was carried in the right hand.

Unique in style this Zulu battle-axe has typical Zulu cross hatching decoration to the iron shaft behind the cutting edge. Shaft is made of African hardwood with a good, dark aged patina. A Classic, unique design, ZULU weapon from the time of their greatest victory and final defeat in 1879.
