It is a absolute pleasure to be able to offer this rare, superb miniature satin wood single fusee library clock to the market. In the 30 years that Iv been involved with clocks I don’t recall seeing anything quite like this. I have seen small library clocks of great quality but this is something simply stunning. The clock stands at 8.1/4 inches tall and only 6 inches wide. The stunning silvered dial is a small 3.3/4 inch.
Being involved in the clock trade for so long this is the first time I have seen a library clock of this size have a full day/date calendar work and be in full automated working condition. The lightly engraving and black work to the dial is very nice and subtle. The dial is signed Ann Robfe 13th Decr 1873, I have been researching this lady for around two weeks on and off and I can’t see any significant event with relates to that lady. I can only conclude that this clock was a retirement, wedding or anniversary gift. Which ever event it was you can absolutely Guarantee that the party commissioning this piece told the maker to spare no expense.
Westmorland Glass - Steam Mill Clocks has cleaned and serviced the whole clock and while the movement was dismantled could not find any markings to relate to a maker. That being said the quality of the movement and clock I suspect the clock was made by a high standing London maker.
The 8 day chain driven movement is in perfect working order and as mentioned above the movement has been fully serviced and tested prior to offering for sale. The only issue I can find with this clock is that at some point in the past the pendulum travel clamp from the back plate has been taken off and not refitted therefore the clock remains without one. I purchased this clock from a private individual that has been storing the clock in a box in the loft for 15-20 years considering that, the clock still maintains its original finish which has only received a clean and a wax. I would welcome any interested persons to come and view this superb clock to totally appreciate just how magnificent it truly is. I have tried to include the best pictures to my ability but i must say the clock looks much nicer in the flesh.
If the asking price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide .
UK buyers are asked to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible.
