Description

Bernard Pages painting of a Man-o-war in a rough sea. 12×16 framed

Bernard Page lived and painted in Tunbridge Wells for many years. He painted in many different styles but he is best known for his traditional Dutch style paintings – barges, ice skating, seascapes and Dutch buildings.

Born in Hertfordshire, the progeny of an English father and a Swiss mother who came from a family of engravers and artists. He was educated at Saffron Walden and although he served in the Royal Navy at a very young age at the end of the Second World War

On leaving the Navy, he studied at St Martins Art College and then moved to the Central Art College in London.

On completion of his studies he undertook graphic design for the famous magazine “Vogue” before taking his destiny in his own hands and took up painting as a permanent career.

Gradually his technique and prowess developed to the point where he became completely professional and he could change his subjects and/or style with amazing versatility.

His works have been sold throughout the world Australia, America, Canada, Nigeria, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, Malaysia, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium etc.

His works are particularly well known around Kent where he lived with his wife and three children, one of whom worked for us for several years. The Public Museum at Tunbridge Wells has his work on permanent exhibition.
