Description

A georgian oak and mahogany longcase clock c1750.
The clock was made by James Sanddiford of Manchester who was a member of the clock makers company.
He was born in 1725 and died in 1775, we believe he was about 25 years old when this clock was made.
The movement is of 8 day durationand benifits from a moon phase dial together with date and second dials.
The dial is brass with silvered chapter ring and auxillery dials.
The oak and mahogany case is in the chinese chippendale style with blind fretwork and pagoda shaped top.
Standing on bracket feet, the case has ebony and boxwood string to the arched door and the hood door and the surmounted by unusual brass fluted finials.
Measuring 94" total height x 23" wide x 11" deep.
