Description

A Victorian Oak metamorphic Char/Steps Circa 1880.

The hinged seat allowing the frame to revolve and become a set of library steps…..how ingenious!!!!!!!

The chair has a brass rod that keeps the frame locked in position and is strong and sturdy.

Metamorphic steps were first built in the Mid-18th Century for private libraries or offices, the top most shelves were difficult to reach so movable library steps or stairs were created as a form of domestic furniture. What Fun…!!!!
