19th Century Narrow Mahogany Astragal Bookcase

Description

An unusual 19th century mahogany single door bookcase-on-chest of small proportions. With a moulded dentil cornice above a Hepplewhite style astragal glazed door enclosing three adjustable shelves, the projecting base has two short over three longer drawers and stands on ogee bracket feet. Of a useful size and with beautiful astragal design, it has some missing dentils to the left corner and an old shrinkage line to the right side of the bookcase. The door lock is working and has a key and there are decorative brass key liners to the drawers, there is an old repair to a back leg which does not show any movement and a handle drop has been replaced.
