Description

A handsome 17th century style dark mahogany four poster tester bed with a fielded panelled cornice and canopy ceiling and dating to the 20th century. With turned columns to the foot and a panelled headboard set between square section uprights it is also fitted with poles for curtains or drapes. The two side rails are polished so do not need to be covered by bedding and it comes with loose slats which are fitted into slots in the side rails. A standard UK double size mattress fits between the rails.

In good solid condition, there is a small chip to a corner on the cornice and a repair to one of the siderails which cannot be seen when assembled. The dark colour means it should look good paired with any Jacobean, Elizabethan or Tudor style oak furniture as well as walnut or mahogany, and as it can be fully dismantled it should be possible to take it up even narrow staircases. The mattress, bedding and curtains are for display purposes only and not included in the sale. The bedside cupboards are available separately at the time of listing.
