Description

A Regency brass inlaid rosewood card table dating to circa 1820, the D-shaped top with a single band of brass inlay with further inlay to the flap edges and frieze. Standing on four slender ring-turned supports with brass inlaid platform base and four downswept legs terminating in original brass lion paw caps and castors. The top opening to reveal a mahogany lined storage space and an inset green baize playing surface. Top sympathetically repolished by hand using traditional shellac (French polish) and wax, the brasses all cleaned and baize replaced, some dings to the brass, and there is a shrinkage line to the back of the platform which will be filled, the back left upright has old worm holes which will be also filled.
