Description
A rare 19th Century coromandel Davenport by Edwards & Roberts of London. Featuring beautiful dark coromandel veneers to each side highlighted with brass beading and turned and fluted gilt decorated ebonised columns. The top with a brass gallery and red faux leather inset writing slope opening to reveal a satinwood lined interior with two drawers above three smaller faux drawers and a hinged pen drawer to the side. Unusually, both sides open with one door concealing four graduated mahogany drawers with turned inset knob handles, and the other a cupboard or bookcase with a single shelf. On a platform base with concealed castors below. With brass keyhole liners, original locks and working keys, the lock to the slope marked ‘HY ‘. Stamped Edwards & Roberts.
