Description

For sale today we have this absolutely stunning vase by the Martin Brothers pottery (most likely Robert Wallace Martin). Decorated in the renaissance style with grotesque elements. On initial viewing, the vase looks like a celebration of all that is good and holy in the world- a large, winged cherubic face to each side of the central panel, with flowers and bountiful berries. Look further though and there are shadowy forces at work- the shoulder has foliates that terminate in devilish faces, while the collar has roaring Dragon heads. Outstanding!

Stands 24cm tall x 15cm dia. Marked "Martin London" and dated 25-9-84.

In excellent condition throughout- no damage or repair, guaranteed.
