A fully hallmarked sterling silver Edwardian calling card case / aide memoire which was assayed at Birmingham in 1909. The lid and base have a border engraved with the Greek key design which symbolizes infinity, unity, eternal love & friendship. The lid also has highly stylized engravings. The original finger ring and chain are attached. The interior is very sound and original too - pockets for calling cards... a pencil holder and the original writing surface. The hinge and catch work perfectly. This item has been used and it has multiple signs of use on the lid, interior and base. Measures almost 4" long x 2 3/4" and weighs 99.4 grams.
