Description

An ornately engraved hallmarked gold Edwardian mourning locket which was crafted by Albert Earnest Jenkins in 1903. This 9 carat gold locket is suspended from an elegant 18 inch necklace. The front is decorated with a single forget-me-not symbolising deep respect and love. The shield shaped cartouche is framed by acanthus leaves. The shield represents the desire to protect the wearer of the locket. Acanthus leaves also adorn the other side. They have been used to convey everlasting life since ancient times.

The hinges and catches work perfectly. The interior locket contains an antique photograph on one side. The other side is fitted with the original frame and backing material.
