Description

Antique silver hip flask, Douglas Clan.

It is hallmarked on the front but the marks are rubbed. There is also an illegible hallmark of some kind on the back of the flask.

The front of the flask has a family crest which appears to be a variation on the crest of the Douglas Clan, one of Scotland's most powerful families and certainly the most prominent family in lowland Scotland during the Late Middle Ages, often holding the real power behind the throne of the Stewart Kings.

The flask is water tight and the cork is still inside the tightly fitting screw / hinged lid. The hinge is nice and strong.

There is some unevenness to the sides of the flask.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
