Fine George III Mahogany Fold-Over Tea Table

Description
An 18th century English mahogany tea table with fold-over top in fine original condition which would make a super side or lamp table for the hall or living room. The folded top with moulded edge rests above a pair of oak-lined frieze drawers each fitted with the original brass bail handle, and all borne on four square section legs each with one chamfered corner. One of the back legs swings out to form a 90 degree angle to support the top when opened up to form a tea table. In the modern era this type of table is most suitable as a side table and is rarely used for its original purpose. This table retains a receipt from Ralph and Bruce Moss of Baldock, Hertfordshire indicating that it was sold for £1,285 in 1994. How Georgian furniture prices have fallen since then!
