The medal for the military fighter of the war 1940 to 1945.

Before this medal was instituted in 1967, most of the other Belgian world war two medals could be awarded to the military, civilian and/or resistance fighters. It was finally recognised that a distinctive military award was needed. It was awarded to all enlisted active world war two service personnel.

The medal is not engraved with the recipient's name.

This full size medal measures approximately 4 cm (1.5") by 4 cm (1.5") excluding the suspension ring.
