Description

Antique Montrose Scottish provincial silver toddy ladle, with unengraved/personalised finial.

The toddy ladle bears the hallmarks for James Sturrock (partially rubbed), and the Montrose mitre town mark thrice.
The Richard Turner reference book on Scottish provincial silver dates James' work to c1860.

The toddy ladle is 15.7 cm (6.2") long. The bowl is 4.4 cm (1.7") in diameter and 1.3 cm (.5") deep. It weighs 24 grams.
All measurements are approximate.
The toddy ladle is in very good condition, with just light overall scratching commensurate with age and usage. The handle has the merest hint of being slightly misshapen.
