Description

This Victorian silver card case features an engraved swallow and reeds design to the front, and an engraved heron and reeds design to the back. There is a vacant shield shape cartouche to the front and the sides have a plain finish.

The card case is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1893, and the makers Hilliard & Thomason.

Hilliard & Thomason operated from Spencer Street, Birmingham.

The card case measures 4.4 cm (1.7") by 8.2 cm (3.2") by .8 cm (.3"). It weighs 31 grams.
All measurements are approximate.

The silver is in very good overall condition. The lid hinge operates well, and the lid is a snug fit. There is some light surface scratching and a few dings commensurate with age and usage.
