Danish coffee table by Toften

Description
A large chequerboard coffee table designed by Poul Cadovius and manufactured by Toften, c1960s. Made of rosewood with parquetry top, removable legs, makers label to the underside.This was based on a furniture system designed by Poul Cadovius in the 1950's: it provided stylish, configurable furniture that could be configured (which legs, which top, which finish), and was easy to assemble. This allowed for personalised interiors to suit any size space. This furniture was retailed by Heals during the 1960s.
