Antique Regency Tea Caddy

Description
A Regency Sarcophagus Shaped Tea Caddy, unusually veneered in kingwood (Brya Ebenus)normally used for bandings and inlays. "Kingwood (Brya Ebenus) was first imported at the beginning of the 18th Century from South America. It was employed to a very limited extent in the Queen Anne period, cut in veneers for facing a few rare examples of cabinet work. It's use revived in the second half of the 18th Century, when it generally appears as crossbanding in borders etc. It is liable to be confused with some cuts of rosewood but is generally lighter in tone, the dark markings in the grain being consequently more prominent." VIEWING AND ADVICE PRIOR TO PURCHASE
We do encourage clients to view items at our premises in Leicestershire prior to purchase if possible. Please do ring us to make the arrangements. Our mobile telephone number 077 100 19045 is possibly the best form of contact and is available to you until 9.00 pm GMT 7 days a week.
