Description

This is a top top quality French bed. It is made in rosewood and is as opulent as you could want. The bed dates to around 1880 and is in the Louis XV1 style. The bed is heavily carved with central crest, floral motifs, classical columns, turned finials. The reeded detail even extends to the side arms. This is just beautiful. The head and footboard have quartered veneered panels and thick shaped solid rosewood top rails. The bed is a rich polished colour with no sign of worm or damage or repair. The side rails are true and they retain their original long French bolts. Everything is good about this bed.

The bed splits to head and footboard and side rails. The bed is strong and sturdy when assembled.

You will need a mattress. It takes a standard double mattress 54 inches wide and 74 inches long.

The headboard is 62 inches high and the footboard is 42 inches high.

As with all rail beds you will need to get two battons to run along the inside of the wooden side rails and then pine slats to go across to form a base for your mattress. This is easy to do and the materials are inexpensive and you will get all the materials and any advice you may want from any builders merchants

This is a very good quality period bed. It will look excellent in a bedroom with French or antique furnishings. The bed has a lot of the 'wow' factor about it and you will go a long time before you see something of this quality again.
