Description

This chest is magnificent. It is made in mahogany and dates to the reign of George IV, around 1820. The chest has sumptuous box wood inlay to the front with inset flame mahogany panels and conch details and fern motif and trailing designs festooning the front. The inlay is incredibly sharp and this is matched by the stringing to each of the five graduated drawers and the key escutcheons. The drawers have their original brass handles with brass cushion mounts and the chest stands on bracket feet. This is an incredibly pretty period chest of drawers.

The mahogany is rich and well polished.

The condition is wonderful. There is an age crack to the top - see photo. There are no cracks to either side. The drawers run well which makes it very usable. It is a very impressive piece.

The chest of drawers is 50 inches wide and 45 inches high and 21.5 inches deep
