Description

This is a very good antique cabinet. It was made in the late Georgian / Regency period, around 1820 or so. The cabinet is made in mahogany with fine satin wood stringing around the drawer. The cabinet was originally made as a wash stand and cleverly it has a removable top and beneath are the original cut outs to take a wash basin etc. The cabinet stands on fine legs with shaped apron and a shelf below. The drawer retains its original handle and is made as you would expect with fine dovetails.

This is such a handsome period cabinet. As with all Georgian furniture, the design is very simple. There is real elegance in this simplicity. This cabinet could be used as a bedside cabinet or a side cabinet, perhaps with a lamp on top to illuminate the polished mahogany. This will look good in a period setting.

The condition is generally good for age. Expansion crack on lower shelf. No worm. Mahogany will polished. Joints solid.

The bedside is 32 inches high and 14.5 inches deep and 14.75 inches wide.
