Description

This is a very impressive chest of drawers. It is French or possibly Italian and dates to the 1950s. The chest is particularly elegant with a wonderful 'bombe' shape. These sweeping curves are highlighted by the kingwood veneer cut in such a way as to make the striations radiate away from a central point between the two drawers. The chest has applied gilt metal detailing with masks of a lady to the keeled corners. The chest has a shaped piece of marble to the top.

This is a large chest of drawers. The two drawers are deep so it will hold a lot of clothes.

The chest is in good condition. Importantly the marble top is perfect. The chest too is in good condition with no sign of worm damage or repair. The wood is rich and polished and the gilt mounts are all in place.

This is a wonderfully elegant and opulent looking chest of drawers. If you have a grand bedroom furnished in the French taste or want an elegant and imposing piece for a landing then this is good piece for you.

The chest of drawers is 35 inches high and 49.5 inches wide and 20 inches deep.
