Eighteenth Century Welsh oak mule chest coffer

Description

This is a good eighteenth Century mule chest or coffer. The chest is made in solid oak and dates to 1727 and is carved with the original owner's initials.

This is a particularly well made chest with recessed joined panels to front side and back. The chest stands on stile legs with two drawers below. The chest has a large space for storing heavy bedding etc and has candel box and small drawers.

I love these chests. They offer very useful storage and are very handsome pieces of furniture in their own right and will look good in a principal room or in a large hall way or on a landing.

This chest is in good condition for its age. Joints solid. No excess wear. Original boards. The oak is well polished to a lovely deep golden sheen.

The mule chest is 53 inches wide and 22 inches deep and 33 inches high.
