Description

A wonderfully executed miniature portrait of unusual large proportions,set within a beautiful large oval frame with split pearl border.The silver mount does have a hallmark of which I have included a photograph but it is so small that I cannot identify even with a jewellers loupe,possibly of french origin with there only being a single mark,It has tested for silver.I cannot find a signature on the painting but the back does have a name,this possibly is either the artist or the sitter.There are some numbers and letters inscribed to the reverse edge of the frame(not visible to the naked eye)these are usually a pawnbrokers inventory code.The miniature sits behind a curved glass front.
