French Tobacco Jar with WW1 War Story Trench Art

Description
From the estate of the now deceased former WW2 Tank Commander Dick Hall from the 4th & 9th Royal Tank Regiment. Before he passed away, he kept meticulous records of his items (please see the note on one of the pictures). This probably late 19th century French tobacco jar has had extensive repair. The lid appears to have been made from some sort of shell.DateLate 19th Century :
