Description

This is an a beautifully sculptural and unusual early Michael Thonet Armchair. In the style of more traditional armcairs of the period but incorporating Thonets bent wood and construction techniques. The result is a very hansome chair that is lighter, but probably stronger than traditional chairs. Interestingly whilst incorporporating bent wood elements he has retained more traditional decorative motifs and carving...a very happy marriage of the two.AUSTRIAN Circa 1880/1900
