Description

Late 19th Century Walnut and Brass Mounted Stick and Hall Stand attributed to James Shoolbred and Co.
There are several versions of these Shoolbred stands.....this taller model is one of the rarer ones ...in fact one was once sold at a major London auction house for £15,000....a price that has as yet never been repeated. This one is no less good!
Framed in walnut with a simple moulded line decoration and retaining a full set of original aesthetic brass mounts including the iconic beehive hooks and capitals. Cleaned and re polished at some point , in very good condition ,this is very smartly presented and ready to place.
ENGLISH Circa 1880/1890
Note: James Shoolbred & Co. was founded in the 1820's as a department store in The Totenham Court Road in London , and in the 1870's started designing, manufacturing and selling high quality and often iconic furniture.
