Description

A 9 inch German Terrestrial globe dating to 1868. The globe stands on a turned beechwood base and has a brass half meridian and shows ocean currents and shipping routes and latest discoveries at the Poles. It was made by Ludwig Heyman of Leipzig , a well known Globe maker who worked from 1860-1903. This globe can be accurately dated as it shows The Austrian-Hungarian Empire, but not the Suez Canal.

Current Condition
The base has been cleaned oiled and waxed. The globe is in excellent colour and only shows signs of wear in certain places such as Russia (see images). There is some later border over-lining
