Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Victorian mahogany chaise longue, circa 1850, which is in good condition, but would benefit from being re-upholstered. The Victorian chaise longue features a left-hand raised long sweeping deep buttoned upholstered arm, boasting a fine quality scroll carved arm and back rail, which unites the seat. A bolster cushion is present. The front seat frame features a straight moulded frieze, with a decorative scroll-carved pediment at the foot of the chaise longue. The arm and backrest are solid in joint. The mahogany turned legs are decorated finely carved floral tulips and raised on the original brass castors.
The mahogany chaise longue has been upholstered in a mushroom colour velvet upholstery at some point in the recent past and finished with matching braiding. Although the upholstery is presentable, there are old use marks and minor fading, with some frayed braiding. The Victorian chaise longue would therefore benefit from being re-upholstered in our opinion. The stuff over seat is firm but comfortable to sit on you do not sink into the chaise. The chaise has been upholstered with foam fillings. The underside of the chaise features black cotton backing material.
The Victorian chaise longue frame boasts a stunning mahogany colour, having been cleaned and professionally French polished by hand in our workshop.
This mahogany chaise longue would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the living room or bedroom, in either a traditional or contemporary setting. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.

The mahogany frame has been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop, therefore the mahogany chaise longue boasts a stunning rich mahogany colour, with a lovely patination. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no missing carvings or mouldings to the frame. The Victorian mahogany chaise longue, stands on its original mahogany turned legs, terminating on its original fine quality solid brass castors, which are also in excellent condition. This Victorian sofa frame is very well constructed and solid in joint.
