Description

An early 18th century iron strong box, the panelled body with carrying handles either side and a handle on the top to lift the lid.
The lid opens to reveal a riveted interior with heavy duty butterfly hinges and the locking mechanism which can be accessed by removing the face plate. The lock mechanism is in good order and does appear working, however unfortunately there is no key.
The iron work has a fantastic cruddy patina and is in excellent condition for its age.
Provenance: Acquired from the collection of Sausthorpe Hall, Lincolnshire.
