This is an excellent example of a very good quality set of ten single antique Georgian style mahogany dining chairs, circa 1900 - 1901 which are of Georgian Chippendale styling and were popular during the mid Georgian period in England designed by the famous cabinet maker, Thomas Chippendale. Thomas Chippendale (who lived between 1718 to 1779) is regarded as having been one of the "big three" English antique furniture makers of the 18th century, along with Thomas Sheraton and George Hepplewhite. Chippendale gave his name to a distinctive style of light and elegant furniture designs.

The chairs are constructed of good quality solid mahogany they feature a straight leg to the front and a sabre chamfered leg to the back (the chamfering is a sign of very good quality). The back features a Chippendale shaped design with fluted centre back splats. The molded seat rails feature drop in seats with blue cotton upholstery. There are no armchairs in this set. The seat fabric can be replaced in a fabric of the customers’ choice at a price of £15 per chair.

All the frames are sound. The chairs are free of breaks and are solid in joint and free of wood worm. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and upholstery but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The blue material seats are marked but are not torn.
