1882 Taylor Tunnicliffe Imari Mug with Silver Rim

#AD115:
This beautiful English pottery oriental inspired imari beaker has a strong mark and also a wonderfully dated 1882 UK registration mark on bottom. The maker is Taylor, Tunnicliffe, & Co. England, who were a pottery founded in 1867 by Thomas Taylor and William Tunnicliff. They were first located in Shelton, Staffordshire, between Hanley and Stoke-upon-Trent.
As they grew, they moved to the larger Eastwood, Pottery Works in Hanley, where Meakin also worked. In the 20th century, they were best known for industrial goods such as conductor rail insulators until 1972, when they closed and became Allied Insulators, which is still in business today. It also has an overpainted tally number on the bottom in deep red that reads "2540 x."
This old chinoiserie piece is in wonderful condition, with silver plated rim, see photos of touchmarks. The silver mark appears as B & O'N, inside a rectangle. This is attributed to Henry Bourne & Daniel J. O'Neill, silver platers of Birmingham (then Warwickshire, now West Midlands) who worked in partnership known as Bourne & O'Neill from 1881-1886.
This old beaker measures 5 inches tall by 3 inches diameter at rim, and was found in Totnes, Devon, England. Click images to see condition in very close up and movable views. A beautiful original piece.
Size: 5 height x 3 inches diameter rim ——We have a 100% approval policy. For any questions, email Debra at the contact box below. Thank you, ~debra
