A very nice and very good quality, antique, Victorian, Scottish 18CT Gold Pocket Watch made by Robert Brownlee of Edinburgh and dating from c1897.
The 18CT Gold case is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "JR" for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham) , the "crown" and "18" for 18 carat gold, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "x" for 1897/98.
The white enamel dial has the hours in Roman numerals, it is in excellent condition, but does have a very faint hairline between 0ne and two o'clock (see photo).
The movement is signed by the maker "Robert Brownlee, Edinburgh" and has the serial number 193799. It is stem wound and pin set.
The watch measures 35mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 34.7g
