1903 Waltham Riverside half hunter pocket watch

Antique 1903 Waltham Riverside half hunter pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, Riverside grade, which is working nicely. This is a high grade movement which could well be classed as railroad grade but we cannot confirm the number of adjustments (one of the requirements of a railroad movement was to have five adjustments). The nicely patterned movement is fully signed and the serial number 13,023,013 dates it back to 1903.
This movement was made in relatively low numbers with just 1900 being produced in total. 1903 was the final year of production for this particular model.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the Dennison Watch Case Company, the company made the majority of cases for Waltham UK.
The case is in lovely condition, just the odd minor mark but nothing serious at all. The front cover has a small lens which is surrounded by dark blue enamel filled Roman numerals, there is a little enamel loss but nothing too significant.
The button on the winding stem pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is a glass lens which is in lovely condition.
The white enamel dial has one short faint hairline crack underneath the subsidiary seconds dial but otherwise is in lovely condition. Blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so the time can be read when the front cover is closed.
The watch comes in a vintage presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
