1930s SILVER Butterfly Wing Crinoline Lady Brooch

Adorable and lovely vintage condition! - This is a gorgeous piece a beautiful wing picture fabulously set to a sterling silver triangular shaped brooch, made in England and marked as Sterling with a period c catch measuring c. 1" inch Depicting a picture of a lady in a crinoline dress and bonnet sat in a flowering garden - very nice, it still retains deep morpho blue colouring from the natural butterfly wing. Whilst this bears the appropriate patent numbers, it does not have the makers signature, this is super vintage example of the wonderful butterfly antique jewellery often attributed to Thomas L. Mott of England.
Thomas Mott (TLM) exhibited his beautiful reversepainted butterfly wing jewellery at the British Empire Exhibition of 1924. His company was the largest producer of butterfly wing jewelry in the 1920"s/1930"s. Becoming a favourite accessory of the Art Deco period, these pieces are now becoming highly sought after and collected.
It was in 1922 that Shipton Co of England applied for the patent (202212 & 202213) for the design of using Butterfly Wings for the production of pictures, but it is generally Mott that is credited with their rise in popularity
