19th C. Silver Plated Pierced Bowl With Tavern Scene

Here we have a top quality late 19th century pierced Silver Plated Dish or Bowl. The dish has a tavern scene portrayed in the base with ornate pierced scrollwork all around the sides, a basket of fruit at the centre of the rim on either side and a c-shaped handle at either end.
The piece is most probably German although it could possibly be Dutch. The marks are those introduced for silver plate in Germany in the 1880s but they were also adopted by some Dutch makers. There is a maker's mark of a squirrel inside an oval but we have been unable to identify this.
Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents, no damage to the pierced work and no plate loss. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dish is 23.5cm / 9.2ins from handle to handle, 14.3cm / 5.6ins across and stands 3cm / 1.2ins high. It weighs in at 241.6g / 8.5oz.
The marks, just below the seated figure on the left, are the stamps 90, indicating the standard grade of silver plate, 8, showing that specifically 8g of silver were plated onto this dish and the squirrel makers' mark that we sadly haven't been able to identify.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
