19th Century Derby Porcelain Recumbent Setter Dog

A charming Derby setter lying recumbent on a shaped rococo style base decorated with roses, forget-me-nots and other blue flowers and green enamel and gilt decoration around the walls. The setter has black patches and a pale grey muzzle and dates to 1835-46. Unmarked.
Reference: 2 examples of this model and an associated written piece can be found in "Dogs In English Porcelain Of The 19th Century" by D.G. Rice, pages 105 and 106, colour plates 169 and 170a and b.
It measures 13.3cm (5 1/4") long, 7.3cm (2 7/8") wide and 5.7cm 92 1/4") high.
Condition is very good with a couple of minor points to note: there is a small, shallow chip to the edge of the base at the back and the underside of the dog's right paw is slightly chipped. The tip of the tail has been restored. No other damage or repairs. Surface wear is very light, mainly just a few small areas of wear to the black patches on his ears and head. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
