A child's low splat back Windsor armchair from the mid 19th century. It is made from yew wood with an elm seat, and has delightful proportions which are complimented by the fabulous glow of the yew wood.
The upper and lower splats have fretted fir tree motifs.The double ring turned legs are united by a crinoline stretcher/hoop. One of the front legs is not yew, probably replaced at some time in the past, and is a good replacement but is slightly lighter in colour than the other legs. One of the upper spindles has been fractured at some time and glued.
With lovely colour and surface, this is a charming little gem of a regional chair, probably made in the Yorkshire area.
