A very interesting and high quality watercolur of 'the Alphubel from Saa Fee' in Switzerland. The work is by Colonel Henry Richard Beadon Donne who exhibited between 1906-39. Colonel Donne seems to have specialised in Alpine painting and his works are much sort after. He exhibited 19 works at the British Alpine Club Gallery as well as at the Royal institute of painters in watercolours. The work has a new mount but is in what appears to be the original gilt frame. The whole painting and frame are in excellent condition and ready to hang. The painting is inscribed with the location and the date of 1906 on the reverse but this is now covered, the signature can be seen lower right.
