An early 18th century portrait of Timothy Lannoy. portrait oil painting 18th century %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
An early 18th century portrait of Timothy Lannoy - a wealthy silk dyer and turkey merchant, circa 1710. Lannoy lived in a mansion on the Thames at Hammersmith , later renamed Brandenburg house, when it was bought by the Margrave of Brandenburg - Anspach.
dressed in lavish attire and wearing a flamboyant wig. The painting itself is very well painted and is in the manner of Kneller.
It could do with some restoration and a good clean, however it does also look fantastic in its country house state.

The painting is unframed and has been cut down at some stage and would have probably once been a "Three quarters portrait 30 X 25 inches". The painting has been relined a long time ago and could do with being relined again as it is starting to separate from its old restoration.
To the rear of the painting is a lovely old label in which some of it I cannot decipher but some of it Says W.J.D . Almaine , Hawley Road , Kentish town.
