An 18th/19th century Sudanese Kaskara sword with an earlier European blade.
This particular example is very unusual as the blade is engraved on both sides in Arabic scripture, both are possibly poems or verses from the Quran, on one side bares the mark of the rampant lion and on the other an orb.
Overall, the blade is in excellent condition for its age with only some minor surface pitting. There is some movement in the cross guard and some leather is missing and loose on the grip of the handle, commensurate with age.
