Antique Baume & Co pocket watch and chain
Antique Baume & Co pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed B&Co, for Baume & Co. The company manufactured their own watches and also imported some from Switzerland, in this case an FHF (Fabrique d'Horlogerie Fontainemelon). Baume were also the importers of Longines watches into the UK.
The movement is protected by an inner cover which has a previous owner's name, C Palfrey.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and overall it is in good condition, just a few little marks to the hinged case back.
The watch glass is in good condition.
The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, J Tennant, Greymouth... believed to be the New Zealand firm of Tennents established by John Tennent in Greymouth in 1902. The dial is in good condition, just a short faint hairline between 10 and 11. Original blued steel hands (pin set), a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a single chain, 26cm long.
The watch and chain will come in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
