This is a good example of a high quality antique watercolour of a landscape scene painted by Frank Catano (c. 1880 – 1900).

This is a large watercolour painted with pastel shades. The picture depicts a tranquil scene probably during early morning or sunset. It depicts fisherman near to one of the great Italian lakes in the background there are travelers making their way along the windy road. The watercolour sits on its original gold mount with original gesso, carved frame.
Frank Catano painted towards the end of the 19th Century predominantly in Italy and the African desserts. This artist always captures the mood of the scene very well. This painting is an excellent investment which has stood the test of time.
