Antique Ottoman Empire Billodes pocket watch

Antique Ottoman Empire Billodes pocket watch from K Serkisoff & Co.
Billodes was one of the marketing names used by George Favre-Jacot, who used several such names, including Zenith which went on to become the official company name in 1911.
The watch, which was made for the Turkish market, has a Swiss key-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed twice with the Billodes name, and it is protected by an inner hinged cover. A winding key is included.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The outer case is 800 silver, and both of the outer covers have the Billodes name inside. The case has engine turned detail to both the front and back although it is quite rubbed from years of use. The front cover has unevenness.
The small button on top of the stem pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass lens which is in good condition.
The dial is in good condition and is signed K Serkisoff & Co, Constantinople (the original retailer of the watch). Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a silver single albert, 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Hallmarked on the T-bar and the clasp.
The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
